With a career spanning decades, her angelic voice and captivating stage presence graced the most prestigious venues in the islands and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of hearing her sing. Melanie Palacio, her gifted musician daughter shared the news with us, after we just attended the Hawaiian Recording Academy Awards ceremony together, a few months back in Honolulu.

Mona Joy’s journey began in the vibrant music scene of Waikiki, where she rose to prominence as one of “The Songbirds of Waikiki.” Her talent shone brightly on the stages of legendary hotels like the Niumalu, The Queens Surf, Moana Surfrider, The Royal Hawaiian, and The Halekulani. Her voice, imbued with the spirit of aloha, carried the enchanting melodies of Hawaiian music to audiences worldwide.

Her influence extended far beyond the shores of her island home. As “The Lex Girl” at The Lexington Hotel’s Hawaiian Room in Manhattan, she captivated New York audiences and even earned the admiration of music legends like Elton John. Her recordings, now treasured collector’s items, stand as a testament to her timeless artistry.

Though widely recognized for her musical talent, Mona Joy’s legacy extends far deeper. A respected member of the Hale O Na Aliʻi, a royal society, she carried the torch of Hawaiian culture and tradition with grace and dignity. Her dedication to her heritage was further exemplified by her participation in the Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo, a dream come true for the seasoned performer.

In recognition of her unparalleled contributions to Hawaiian music, Mona Joy was honored with the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. This accolade cemented her status as a true legend of the islands, her name forever etched in the annals of Hawaiʻi’s musical history.

Even in her 90s, Mona Joy’s passion for music burned bright. She continued to embrace new opportunities, working on projects to share her music with a new generation through digital platforms. Her unwavering spirit and dedication to her craft served as an inspiration to all.

Mona Joy’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her music and legacy will continue to inspire and uplift for generations to come. Her voice, a true gift from the islands, will forever echo in the gentle breezes of Hawaiʻi, a reminder of the enduring power of music and aloha.

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: H.H. Dr. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: Unboxing the Tesla Robot and how it Changes Your Life!

Tesla’s Optimus robot, also known as the Tesla Bot, is a general-purpose humanoid robot and simply the best gadget, robot or device ever. First announced at Tesla’s AI Day in 2021, Optimus is designed to handle a variety of tasks, from simple household chores like cleaning and laundry to complex industrial work like manufacturing and assembly. Tesla envisions Optimus assisting humans with dangerous, repetitive, or boring tasks, allowing people to focus on more creative and fulfilling activities.

Optimus is designed to resemble a human, with two arms, two legs, and a head, enabling it to navigate and interact with the world similarly to humans. It’s powered by Tesla’s advanced artificial intelligence technology, which allows it to learn, adapt, and perform tasks autonomously. Tesla aims to make Optimus affordable, with a target price of around $20,000.

While still under development, Optimus has the potential to revolutionize how we live and work. However, the development of humanoid robots raises ethical concerns about job displacement, privacy, and potential misuse. Tesla is also not alone in this field; other companies like Boston Dynamics are developing similar robots.

Despite these challenges, the future of humanoid robots like Optimus is promising. They have the potential to transform various industries and aspects of our lives, ushering in a new era of human-robot collaboration.

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: Sony Music premieres a roof top rollerblade disco on a Hollywood Rooftop!

The haze of the LA sunset cast long shadows across the cityscape, painting the sky in hues of burnt orange and dusky rose. Excitement thrummed through the air, thicker than the smog that usually clung to the City of Angels. Tonight was Friday, November 8th, and EP/LP was the place to be.

A kaleidoscope of lights pulsed from the rooftop, beckoning partygoers like moths to a flame. The promise of “Sony Music’s New Fall Anthems” hung heavy in the air, a siren song for music lovers and trendsetters alike. Whispers of “special guest, international artists” had whipped the city into a frenzy all week. Who would it be? A hot new DJ from Berlin? A K-Pop sensation taking the US by storm? The mystery only amplified the anticipation.

Inside, the elevator doors opened onto a scene straight out of a dream. EP/LP had been transformed into a Tulum-inspired oasis, all flowing white fabrics, lush greenery, and flickering candlelight. The 360-degree view was breathtaking – the iconic Hollywood sign glowing in the distance, the sprawling city lights twinkling below, and the vast Pacific Ocean shimmering in the moonlight.

The music, a thumping mix of disco classics and fresh new beats, vibrated through the floor and into your soul. On the Melrose Rooftop, the roller disco was in full swing. Skates glittered under the disco ball, bodies swayed to the rhythm, and laughter echoed through the warm night air. Some wore neon leg warmers and vintage roller skates, a nod to the retro theme. Others, dressed to the nines in designer labels, proved that even roller disco could be chic.

For those who preferred a less strenuous activity, the Rooftop Theater offered a cinematic escape. Cult classic disco movies flickered across the screen, their soundtracks piped through silent disco headphones. Groups of friends lounged on comfy beanbags, sharing popcorn and whispering commentary.

The aroma of street food wafted from every corner. Retro food stalls offered gourmet takes on classic treats: Korean corn dogs with kimchi ketchup, truffle mac and cheese bites, and mini lobster rolls with aioli. Thirst was quenched with craft cocktails, served in glowing glasses that mimicked the city lights below.

As the night deepened and the stars emerged, the energy only intensified. The “special guests” finally took the stage, and the crowd erupted. Cameras flashed, bodies moved in unison, and the music soared, carrying the promise of a night that would be etched in LA’s memory forever. EP/LP, on this Friday night, was the epicenter of the city’s vibrant heartbeat, a testament to the power of music, art, and the magic of a truly unforgettable party.
