On October 25th, from one o’clock to six in the evening, Macy’s Herald Square will transform into a destination of elegance, conversation, and creative charm. Guests will step into a world shaped by Shani’s couture vision, surrounded by soft textures, tailored silhouettes, and the quiet luxury that has become synonymous with her name.

The event, presented in collaboration between Shani and Macy’s, is conceived as a fully immersive experience blending the romance of high society with the signature artistry of Shani’s dress designs. Each garment tells a story through its form and construction, reflecting the balance between contemporary sophistication and timeless femininity. These moments will highlight the designer’s enduring focus on quality and wearability, making her work beloved by women who value confidence and grace in every occasion.

The experience will extend far beyond the runway. Artisanal teas and specialty coffees will be served, offering a quiet reprieve in the midst of conversation and discovery. Culinary delicacies prepared for the occasion will echo the aesthetic harmony of the event, each selection designed to complement the refinement of Shani’s visual presentation. Guests will also encounter fashion illustrations that bring her creative process to life, transforming ideas from sketch to silhouette in real time.

In a gesture that embraces individuality, the afternoon will also include custom poetry—a reflection of the human inspiration behind each design. The inclusion of personalized verses adds a literary charm that resonates with the event’s overall sense of intimacy. Fresh flowers will further adorn the setting, bringing natural beauty into dialogue with the structured artistry of couture.

As the event unfolds on the fifth floor of Macy’s Herald Square, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the designer herself. Shani’s presence is central to the day’s experience, offering guests insight into the philosophy that defines her brand. Her work, distinguished by its refined tailoring and romantic detail, captures the essence of confidence without pretense. The meet and greet will allow for meaningful exchanges, giving admirers a chance to better understand the designer’s personal connection to her craft.

The collaboration between Shani and Macy’s underscores a shared commitment to making fine design accessible within an atmosphere of genuine hospitality. It is a partnership that unites tradition and innovation, honoring craftsmanship while welcoming guests into a space of creative appreciation. The afternoon’s pacing invites leisure, conversation, and admiration, recalling the graciousness of classic salon gatherings where art and fashion were celebrated as essential elements of culture.

The visual styling of the event promises to echo the elegance of the invitation itself, which carries soft pink tones, ornamental framing, and delicate motifs of tea cups and fans. These touches evoke the refinement of an earlier era while signaling the warmth and inclusivity of modern luxury. Every visual cue has been arranged to create harmony, ensuring that each guest feels part of a seamless aesthetic experience.

Attendees are invited to RSVP via the Shani Collection email, reflecting the thoughtful organization and personal attention that define the brand’s approach. The decision to host the gathering at Macy’s Herald Square places the event within one of New York City’s most iconic retail spaces, further elevating its significance. Herald Square has long been a stage for moments of fashion history, and the Shani event continues that legacy with quiet distinction.

What makes this occasion particularly meaningful is its attention to the personal dimension of design. Beyond fabric and form, the afternoon celebrates the human stories that inspire elegance—moments of confidence, transformation, and grace. Guests will leave not only with memories of couture craftsmanship but also with a renewed sense of connection to the artistry that shapes everyday beauty.

As fashion continues to evolve in both scale and spirit, gatherings like this remind us of the enduring value of intimate, carefully curated experiences. The Shani x Macy’s collaboration demonstrates how modern luxury thrives not in spectacle but in sincerity. It is a celebration of artistry that engages the senses and honors the individual—the very essence of high society reimagined for the present.

The event, which coincided with New York Fashion Week, drew a distinguished roster of diplomats, royals, entrepreneurs, and fashion icons. The evening opened with a dynamic sequence of introductions and photo sessions, featuring international beauty queens and supermodels such as Miss Russia New York Angelina, Sylviana Miss Kabaya Indonesia USA, and Svetlana Miss World. Their elegance reflected the event’s cosmopolitan theme—a celebration of global culture and female empowerment through artistry and grace.

Following the vibrant introductions came a series of thought-provoking talks centered on artificial intelligence and innovation in global markets. Distinguished speakers included Morgan Freeman and Ambe Sadon, Financial Advisors with Oppenheimer & Co., Merly Barlaan, Director of UN Relations for WFWPI, and Frank A. Ottomannalli, a business leader representing a legacy of family entrepreneurship. Each shared invaluable insights into how technology and finance can shape a sustainable future.

The highlight of the evening was the keynote address by Bill Walsh, Founder and CEO of Powerteam International, whose inspiring words ignited ambition across the room. Known for his dynamic approach to entrepreneurship and leadership, Walsh emphasized the importance of innovation and human connection in the ever-evolving landscape of business.

The award segment, an annual tradition of Black Tie International Magazine’s celebrations, followed with the elegance and ceremony for which the publication is renowned. Ambassador Hugues Sanon and Ambassador Nadine Hernandez presented the first honor of the night to Bill Walsh for his extraordinary leadership in global business education. Gerald McKeon, Publisher of Black Tie International Magazine, was also recognized for his invaluable contributions to international media and diplomacy. Gloria Cressler, whose vision continues to drive the publication’s global outreach, received accolades for her leadership, and Dutta Anupam, CEO of an AI technology firm, was honored for his pioneering work in digital innovation.

Beyond the formal introductions and speeches, the event is expected to cultivate an environment of genuine partnership, where attendees can explore tangible trade opportunities, exchange ideas for joint ventures, and share experiences across industries. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: Elton Ilirjani Commands London Fashion Week in Poet-Lab’s Manifesto of Freedom

The world of fashion often thrives on spectacle, but sometimes a single figure can transform a runway into a moment of cultural meaning. During London Fashion Week, Elton Ilirjani did precisely that. Stepping into Poet-Lab’s Autumn/Winter–Spring/Summer 2026 show, “Resistant When Opposites Break,” the global supermodel and advocate for genderless fashion turned a collection into a declaration—where fabric became ideology and movement became manifesto.

Under the creative direction of Giuseppe Iaciofano, Poet-Lab has built a reputation for merging artistic provocation with ethical purpose. This season’s presentation was less a conventional runway than a poetic experiment in freedom, dissolving boundaries between masculine and feminine, luxury and street, fragility and force. In the midst of it, Elton Ilirjani emerged as both muse and messenger, embodying a new vocabulary of resistance through style.

Wearing black, the Albanian-born icon commanded the space with the poise of someone who understands fashion not as costume but as conversation. Every gesture reflected the brand’s aesthetic of minimalism charged with emotion. As the music pulsed through the industrial venue, Ilirjani’s stride became the show’s heartbeat—a living articulation of what it means to stand without definition.

Poet-Lab’s collection juxtaposed raw tailoring with silken drapery, neutral palettes with sudden transparency, evoking the creative friction of opposites in collision. Iaciofano’s approach to design has always been about tension—how strength coexists with vulnerability, how structure can dissolve into movement. In Ilirjani, he found a collaborator whose presence distilled those paradoxes into one clear statement: freedom begins where fashion refuses to obey.

Founded in 2023, Poet-Lab is the product of Iaciofano’s evolution from Milan’s sleek precision to London’s more fluid experimentation. Having overcome personal and professional challenges, including a life-altering battle with cancer, the designer infuses each collection with an unmistakable sense of resilience. His clothes are sculpted not merely to adorn the body but to express the complex beauty of survival. At the core of his philosophy lies an unyielding belief in inclusivity—not as trend, but as truth.

That belief found its perfect interpreter in Ilirjani. With over twelve million followers across continents, the model has become one of fashion’s most visible advocates for gender equality and expressive autonomy. His social presence, though immense, is defined less by spectacle and more by the quiet power of representation. Each runway he walks becomes a stage for visibility—an invitation for audiences to reconsider how identity is performed, and who gets to define it.

In London, this collaboration between Ilirjani and Iaciofano unfolded as a symphony of defiance. The title, “Resistant When Opposites Break,” suggested a philosophy that strength emerges in contradiction, that fashion’s evolution depends on disruption. The silhouettes reflected that thesis: tailored jackets deconstructed into asymmetrical lines, flowing trousers spliced with geometric seams, translucent layers revealing structure beneath softness. It was a meditation on balance undone—and then rebuilt.

The setting of London Fashion Week amplified the energy. Here, amidst an international congregation of editors, stylists, and cultural commentators, Poet-Lab’s presentation stood apart for its refusal to conform to spectacle’s expectations. There were no grand theatrics, no overstatement—only a distilled purity of message. The focus was human. The statement, ethical.

Giuseppe Iaciofano’s creative journey continues to inspire for its authenticity. His designs, made from repurposed deadstock fabrics, carry an environmental consciousness aligned with his social mission. The fusion of sustainability with genderless luxury has earned Poet-Lab recognition as one of London’s most thoughtful emerging labels. It is fashion that looks both inward and forward—rooted in philosophy yet expressed through beauty.

For Ilirjani, this moment in London was a continuation of a global narrative he has been shaping for years. From New York to Milan, Seoul to Paris, his runway appearances are less about self-display and more about collective empowerment. His message is simple but potent: fashion belongs to everyone. There are no borders, no binaries, no expectations beyond authenticity.

Beyond the lights and lenses, Ilirjani’s influence extends into his professional life as a business leader. As the founder of The HeadHunter Group, an international executive search company operating in cities from New York and Los Angeles to Athens and Belgrade, he bridges the worlds of commerce and creativity. His work embodies the principle that equality and excellence coexist, that success is strongest when it lifts others.

The partnership between Poet-Lab and Ilirjani thus becomes symbolic of a broader cultural shift. It signals a fashion world increasingly conscious of responsibility—toward the planet, toward identity, toward truth. Both figures reject performative inclusivity in favor of lived integrity. Both understand that change in fashion must begin with people, not publicity.

When the show concluded, applause filled the space not simply for the garments but for what they represented. The audience had witnessed more than a collection; they had seen an articulation of modern identity. Ilirjani’s presence had transformed the catwalk into a mirror of possibility—where each viewer could glimpse their own freedom reflected in the fabric’s movement.

In the days following the presentation, images of Ilirjani in Poet-Lab’s signature pieces swept across digital platforms, spreading far beyond the confines of fashion week. Each repost and editorial mention carried forward the message that had defined the night: resistance can be beautiful, and beauty can be a form of resistance.

The collaboration affirmed Poet-Lab’s position at the forefront of ethical avant-garde design while reinforcing Ilirjani’s legacy as a model who stands not just for aesthetics but for equality. Together, they created a new language—part philosophy, part performance, wholly human.

Fashion, at its best, tells stories that words cannot. On that London runway, Elton Ilirjani and Giuseppe Iaciofano wrote one together—a story about transformation, truth, and the art of being unapologetically free.

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: New Yorks Super Mom Julianne Michelle hosted An Evening For Hope and Healing on the Upper East Side – A Benefit for Mommy’s Heart!

An elegant Upper East Side townhouse became the setting for a deeply meaningful evening when Sophie and Malcolm Kanter opened their doors on May 10, 2025, for a benefit supporting Mommy’s Heart, the nonprofit founded by star actress and advocate Julianne Michelle. The gathering brought together New York’s most compassionate philanthropists, advocates, and community leaders in a shared mission to protect survivors of domestic abuse and their children.

At the center of the evening was Julianne Michelle’s unwavering vision—a world where parents and children are not punished for seeking safety. Her organization, Mommy’s Heart, has already assisted more than one hundred survivors through free trauma-informed legal, mental health, and advocacy services. With the grace and determination that have defined her advocacy, Michelle has mobilized a network of volunteers, board members, and professionals who give their time and expertise to ensure that no family faces danger or injustice alone.

The evening unfolded with the ease of a refined private salon, its purpose amplified by heartfelt conversation and the hum of shared commitment. Guests gathered in the Kanters’ gracious townhouse, surrounded by art and soft light, as cocktails and light fare circulated among guests. It was a night where purpose met elegance, and philanthropy took on the intimacy of friendship.

Among the guests were New York’s civic and social figures who have each contributed to strengthening the city’s community fabric. NYS Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright was honored with the Mommy’s Heart Champion for Families and Justice Award in recognition of her ongoing advocacy for women, children, and families. Her acceptance reflected a sense of civic responsibility that resonated throughout the room.

Virginia Maloney, Democratic Nominee for NYC Council, District 4, and Mommy’s Heart board member, joined Republican Nominee for District 5, Alina Bonsell, as examples of bipartisan support for the organization’s cause—a rare and meaningful gesture in today’s often divided climate. The guest list also included Sir Ivan Wilzig, known for his philanthropic work and dedication to humanitarian causes, as well as fellow board members Nadira Saban and Justin Alexander, each instrumental in guiding Mommy’s Heart’s growth and outreach.

Also in attendance were Dr. Elliot Heller, James Pecora, and Count Edward Stroh, whose presence underscored the evening’s blend of professional and social influence united for a common good. Volunteers Chris Agianian and Gee Wang offered their assistance with quiet dedication, ensuring the night ran seamlessly and guests felt at home. The event’s spirit and energy were captured beautifully by renowned photographer Annie Watt, whose lens has documented New York’s most meaningful gatherings.

The emotional heart of the evening came with the words of guest speaker Dr. Nadine Macaluso, a psychotherapist, author, and survivor whose personal history gave her message powerful authenticity. Known for inspiring the character of Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street, she spoke not of glamour, but of courage and renewal. Her book, Run Like Hell: A Therapist’s Guide to Recognizing, Escaping, and Healing from Trauma Bonds, offers both guidance and hope to those who have lived through abuse, and her appearance at the benefit underscored the event’s message of resilience and recovery.

Mommy’s Heart’s work is urgent and far-reaching. Every six days in the United States, a child dies due to failures within the family court system. Each year, two thousand children lose their lives to neglect or abuse, and fifty-eight thousand more are forced into unsafe custody arrangements. Against this backdrop, Mommy’s Heart stands as a lifeline, providing survivors with legal and psychological resources to escape cycles of trauma. The organization’s proposed legislation, A01154/S6825, aims to reform the very systems that too often endanger the vulnerable, offering a pathway toward justice and protection.

Throughout the night, conversation turned repeatedly to the transformative power of advocacy, the strength of survivors, and the importance of community engagement. The Kanters’ home, filled with conversation and empathy, became more than a venue—it became a testament to what can happen when compassion meets action. The funds raised will sustain Mommy’s Heart’s growing programs, extending the organization’s reach to more families in need across the nation.

For those in attendance, the benefit was not merely an evening of philanthropy but a call to conscience, a reminder that progress begins with awareness and grows through collective will. Julianne Michelle’s leadership, supported by an inspired network of advocates, continues to redefine how society supports survivors of domestic abuse. Her work bridges the worlds of activism, mental health, and legislative reform with an unshakable belief in humanity’s capacity for healing.

As guests departed into the night, there was an unmistakable sense that the event had achieved something beyond its immediate purpose. It had gathered people from across political, professional, and personal divides in a spirit of shared responsibility. Mommy’s Heart had not only raised vital funds but had strengthened a movement built on empathy, courage, and the refusal to remain silent.

Sophie and Malcolm Kanter, through their generosity and warmth, created a setting in which these conversations could flourish. Their hospitality reflected the broader essence of the organization they supported—a belief that home should be a place of safety and care, never of fear.

In a city known for its glittering events and high-profile causes, the Mommy’s Heart benefit stood apart for its sincerity and its purpose. It was a night of shared humanity and elegant resolve, a gathering that demonstrated how compassion, when paired with action, can reshape the world one family at a time.

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: Powering Forward Together: The New York Women’s Foundation Honors Five Trailblazers at the 2025 Neighborhood Dinner

Under a canopy of light and energy at Industry City in Brooklyn, more than three hundred guests gathered for an evening that felt as vital as it was visionary. The New York Women’s Foundation hosted its 31st annual Neighborhood Dinner—an event that has long celebrated the heart of grassroots leadership—with the 2025 theme, Powering Forward, Together. The dinner was a radiant testament to the Foundation’s mission: to invest in women and gender-expansive people who are transforming their neighborhoods, and by doing so, reshaping the world.

PR Powerhouse Norah Lawlor, a powerwoman and the principal of Lawlor Media Group, always puts a focus and womens causes and gets the attention focused on the right matters.

From its first gathering in 1994, the Neighborhood Dinner has honored the bold, the compassionate, and the creative. Each year, it shines a light on the individuals who prove that community change begins at the local level, through courage, collaboration, and care. The 2025 celebration continued that legacy, bringing together an inspiring group of honorees whose work bridges the spaces between art, justice, entrepreneurship, and service.

A Night of Connection and Courage

The evening opened with a spirited panel conversation moderated by Camille Emeagwali, featuring Elizabeth Yeampierre, Executive Director of UPROSE, and Renette Bradley of Housing Justice for All. Their dialogue underscored the urgency of local action and the ways community-led leadership continues to move the city forward. As voices from Brooklyn’s most vibrant advocacy networks filled the room, it was clear that the dinner was more than an awards celebration—it was a forum for progress.

Throughout the space, art installations and performances mirrored the dynamism of the Foundation’s work. Youth artists from Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy and viBe Theater Experience took the stage, offering movement and storytelling that captured the themes of resilience and collective strength. Catering was provided by partners from the Violence Intervention Program (VIP Mujeres), underscoring the Foundation’s practice of uplifting women-led enterprises at every level of its events.

Honoring Vision and Impact

The 2025 honorees represented the spectrum of leadership that defines New York’s most transformative women.

Linda Goode Bryant, recipient of the Neighborhood Leadership Award, was celebrated for her lifelong dedication to bridging art and social justice. Through her pioneering projects—Just Above Midtown and Project EATS—she has reimagined how creativity can feed both body and spirit, transforming vacant spaces into community farms and cultural hubs.

Lorena Kourousias, also honored with the Neighborhood Leadership Award, was recognized for her role as Executive Director of Mixteca, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit serving Latinx immigrant families. Her work in education, healing, and empowerment has built pathways of belonging for thousands navigating new lives in New York City.

The Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award was presented to Luisa Navarro, a journalist and creative entrepreneur whose company Mexico In My Pocket celebrates Mexican heritage through storytelling, commerce, and community events. Navarro’s vision is not only an homage to cultural identity but a blueprint for how small businesses can sustain local economies and cultural pride.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Stacey Cumberbatch, whose three-decade career in public service and philanthropy has shaped New York City’s systems of equity and access. Her leadership—spanning City Hall, nonprofits, and advisory boards—has continually emphasized the importance of representation and collaboration in civic progress.

Also recognized was Brennan Gang, whose leadership at the Korean American Community Foundation has elevated immigrant voices and strengthened the national nonprofit network. Her work reflects the Foundation’s own belief in connection as the cornerstone of community power.

The Power of Collective Vision

At the heart of the evening stood Ana L. Oliveira, President and CEO of The New York Women’s Foundation. Her words carried the room with a sense of conviction and purpose: “Courage is as contagious as fear,” she reminded the audience, “and it is a choice which one we want to share.” Under her stewardship, the Foundation has continued to expand its impact, prioritizing community-based organizations that develop sustainable, self-determined solutions.

Co-Chairs Mary Baglivo and Danielle Moss Cox, along with Helene Banks, Michelle Henry, and Elba Montalvo of the Neighborhood Dinner Steering Committee, guided the evening with warmth and grace. Together, they honored not only the five award recipients but also the hundreds of women-led organizations that have shaped The Foundation’s story over nearly four decades.

Thirty-One Years of Transformative Giving

Since its founding in 1987, The New York Women’s Foundation has grown into one of the largest women-led grantmaking institutions in the world. To date, it has distributed more than $133 million to over 500 organizations—funding programs that address racial and gender equity, economic security, reproductive justice, and community safety. What sets the Foundation apart is its commitment to grassroots partnership: it listens first, funds locally, and amplifies the expertise of those directly shaping their communities.

The Neighborhood Dinner embodies this philosophy. Each honoree’s journey reflects the Foundation’s core belief that solutions should not be imposed from above, but cultivated from within the neighborhoods they serve. It is this approach that continues to make the Foundation’s impact both deep and enduring.

A Celebration Rooted in Brooklyn

Industry City, with its vast industrial beams and creative energy, provided an ideal setting for the 2025 dinner—a meeting ground of art, culture, and innovation. Guests mingled among installations from local artists, shared stories over dishes crafted by women-owned businesses, and celebrated the interconnectedness that defines Brooklyn’s spirit. The atmosphere was electric with possibility, the kind that lingers long after the last toast.

By night’s end, applause rang through the hall as the honorees stood together—five women from different worlds, united by their dedication to building a city where justice and opportunity are shared. Their achievements illuminated what the Foundation has long understood: when women lead, communities thrive.

As The New York Women’s Foundation continues its work across all five boroughs, the message of the evening remained clear—progress is not a solitary act but a shared movement, powered forward, together.

His career, distinguished by a rare combination of academic rigor and visionary leadership, represents the very heart of the Foundation’s mission: to turn scientific collaboration into real-world cures.

Science, Philanthropy, and the Art of Collaboration

The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation has long championed the idea that collaboration, rather than competition, is the true engine of discovery. Since its founding, it has funded researchers across leading institutions worldwide, supporting projects that push the boundaries of understanding cancer’s origins and treatments. By fostering international partnerships, the Foundation ensures that breakthroughs are shared, accelerating the collective march toward prevention and cure.

The annual Collaboration for a Cure event is not merely a gala—it is a celebration of the scientific method as a shared human endeavor. Guests who attend find themselves immersed in an evening that unites the city’s cultural vitality with the gravity of scientific purpose. The conversations are as lively as the cause is profound, as doctors, donors, and advocates exchange ideas over candlelit tables overlooking the East River.

The elegant Apella venue, with its sleek architecture and luminous views, sets the perfect tone for an evening devoted to hope and progress. A reception filled with fine cuisine, heartfelt speeches, and moments of reflection underscores the meaning behind every research grant and discovery made possible by the Foundation’s supporters.

A Legacy of Impact

For nearly half a century, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation has built a legacy rooted in collaboration. Its researchers have contributed to major advances in understanding genetic mutations, identifying new drug targets, and pioneering early detection methods that have changed lives across the globe. Each year, the Foundation reaffirms its mission through this event, where breakthroughs are not just celebrated—they are shared.

The Waxman Collaboration for a Cure embodies the Foundation’s core philosophy: that science and compassion must move forward together. Funds raised during the evening will directly support international research collaborations, young investigator programs, and cutting-edge studies that continue to push cancer research beyond boundaries of geography and discipline.

An Evening to Remember

As guests arrive on October 22nd, the atmosphere will reflect both the gravity of purpose and the joy of achievement. Scientists will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with philanthropists, united by a common goal—to make cancer not a life sentence, but a curable condition. Throughout the evening, stories of progress will intertwine with moments of gratitude, illuminating the ongoing power of shared discovery.

By the time the night draws to a close, applause will echo not just for the honorees, but for the collective spirit that has defined twenty-eight years of collaboration. The evening will reaffirm that breakthroughs do not belong to one individual or institution—they belong to all who believe in the power of partnership.

For those who attend, the 28th Waxman Collaboration for a Cure will stand as a testament to what can be achieved when intellect meets empathy, when science meets society, and when the pursuit of knowledge meets the deepest human desire—to heal.

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: HM&C Marks Five Years of Vision and Vanguard Art in New York

A crisp October morning at 47 East 64th Street promises to be one of celebration and reflection as HM&C marks its fifth anniversary—a milestone that encapsulates five remarkable years of curatorial integrity, global dialogue, and unwavering dedication to Latin American and transnational art. On Thursday, October 23rd, the gallery opens its doors to collectors, artists, and friends with morning coffee at 10:30 a.m., guided tours throughout the day, and a celebratory toast at 3:30 p.m., honoring a journey that has helped redefine the voice of contemporary art in New York.

Since its founding in October 2020, HM&C has become a haven for artistic intellect, bridging histories and geographies through a refined yet fearless program. The gallery’s debut exhibition, Freddy Rodríguez: Early Paintings 1970–1990, set the tone for what would become its enduring philosophy: an embrace of aesthetic precision balanced with profound cultural narrative.

From Origins to Legacy

The inaugural exhibition explored Rodríguez’s expansive approach to color, geometry, and identity. Born in the Dominican Republic and rooted in New York’s artistic avant-garde, Rodríguez created works that navigated the intersections of abstraction and diaspora. His paintings—particularly from the Paradise and Cimarrón series—reflected both formal sophistication and emotional depth. The exhibition revealed the multifaceted practice of an artist who redefined modernism from a Caribbean perspective.

Rodríguez’s inclusion in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2021 cemented his place in American art history. His painting Y me quedé sin nombre (1974) became the first work by a Dominican-born New York artist to enter the Whitney’s collection, signaling a long-overdue acknowledgment of his contributions. Following his passing in 2022, HM&C continues to celebrate his legacy through its Study Room and forthcoming solo exhibition in Spring 2026, ensuring that his voice continues to resonate through new generations of viewers and scholars.

Expanding the Horizon

As HM&C’s curatorial reach grew, so did its presence on the international art stage. In 2022, the gallery presented Priscilla Monge: In Focus at The Armory Show in New York, introducing a new audience to the Costa Rican artist’s hauntingly poetic investigations of morality, violence, and nature. Monge’s series of large-scale polaroid-inspired works, veiled in vibrant green, questioned the boundaries between concealment and revelation, nature and human intervention. Her inclusion underscored HM&C’s commitment to artists whose work confronts contemporary realities with conceptual rigor and emotional precision.

This project built on HM&C’s ability to frame Central American and Latin American perspectives within the broader context of postwar discourse. By presenting Monge’s work alongside global dialogues of memory, identity, and gender, the gallery solidified its reputation as a bridge between regions and generations of thought-provoking artistry.

A Presence in the Canon

In 2024, HM&C achieved another milestone when MoMA acquired Mixed Statement (1984) by Puerto Rican artist Juan Sánchez. This seminal work, composed of oil, photo collage, and mixed media, confronts the complexities of Puerto Rican identity and U.S. colonialism. Layers of imagery—ranging from the Puerto Rican flag and Taíno symbols to Catholic iconography—create a dense and personal visual language of resistance and belonging. Sánchez, born in Brooklyn to Puerto Rican parents, continues to serve as both artist and activist, his art a forceful testimony of visibility for those navigating the hyphen between cultures.

Standing beside the work at MoMA, Sánchez and HM&C Director Isabella Hutchinson marked the acquisition as a collective triumph—not only for the artist but for all who believe that art has the power to record, question, and transform.

Honoring Raquel Rabinovich

Among the most poignant moments in HM&C’s history has been its partnership with the late Raquel Rabinovich (1929–2025). The Argentine-born artist, whose practice spanned over six decades, embodied the gallery’s dedication to introspection and timeless inquiry. HM&C presented two solo exhibitions, Portals (2021) and Avatars (2025), the latter marking the final show Rabinovich attended before her passing. Her meditative works—steeped in light, silence, and the metaphysical—remain central to the gallery’s program.

As HM&C transitions to become the sole global representative of the Raquel Rabinovich Estate, a major exhibition celebrating her life and legacy is scheduled for early 2026. This commitment reflects the gallery’s devotion to preserving artistic heritage while encouraging contemporary engagement with enduring ideas.

Five Years of Discovery

From its stately Upper East Side townhouse, HM&C has evolved into a meeting point for curators, collectors, and scholars. The gallery’s Study Room, a dedicated space for research and viewing, exemplifies its intellectual depth. Beyond its exhibitions, HM&C has built a reputation for fostering cross-cultural exchange and scholarly dialogue, ensuring that every artist’s narrative is contextualized within a larger framework of art history.

The gallery’s roster continues to expand, reflecting its diverse yet cohesive vision. Represented artists include Manuel Aja Espil, Catalina Chervin, Alejandro Corujeira, De Volder, Debora Hirsch, Ides Kihlen, Priscilla Monge, Juan Sánchez, and Vargas-Suarez Universal. Its represented estates—most notably those of Esteban Lisa and Raquel Rabinovich—serve as anchors of continuity, while its collaborations with artists such as Roberto Aizenberg, José Gurvich, and Joaquín Torres-García honor the lineage of modernist innovation that informs today’s dialogues.

The Celebration Continues

As the gallery prepares to raise a toast on October 23rd, its team reflects on a half-decade of art that has both honored the past and embraced the future. Guests will explore rooms filled with the stories and spirits of the artists who have shaped HM&C’s identity. Coffee will give way to conversation, and conversation to celebration—a continuum of creativity unfolding within the heart of New York’s cultural landscape.

In a city defined by reinvention, HM&C has remained steadfast in its devotion to clarity, scholarship, and beauty. Five years on, it stands not merely as a gallery but as a living dialogue between histories, visions, and voices that continue to shape the art world’s present and its possibilities.

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright Hosts Free Prostate Cancer Screenings with Mount Sinai

Assembly Member Seawright just sent out an email with an upmost important message THANK YOU ! A community health initiative offering no-cost prostate cancer screenings brought New Yorkers together for an important cause of prevention and awareness. Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright, in partnership with Mount Sinai’s Robert F. Smith Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening Unit, announced the return of this vital service, providing men aged 40 and above with free, confidential screenings designed to save lives through early detection.

The event takes place Wednesday, October 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1485 York Avenue, between 78th and 79th Streets. No health insurance is needed, and walk-ins are welcome throughout the day. The mobile unit, operated by Mount Sinai, offers a quick and simple blood test that takes only five to six minutes. Results are typically available within two to three days, making it one of the most efficient and accessible screening opportunities available to the public.

Assembly Member Seawright’s dedication to public health has been a hallmark of her community leadership. By partnering with Mount Sinai, she continues her advocacy for preventive care and accessible medical services for all New Yorkers, regardless of income or insurance status. The initiative highlights her ongoing mission to ensure that early detection and education remain central to men’s health awareness on the Upper East Side and beyond.

Making Prevention Accessible

Prostate cancer remains the second most common form of cancer among American men, following skin cancer. Statistics underscore the importance of annual screening, particularly for men over 40 and for those with higher risk factors. Approximately one in eight American men will develop prostate cancer during their lifetime, and about one in forty will die from the disease. The numbers are even more concerning among Black men, who experience a seventy percent higher rate of developing high-risk prostate cancer and are more than twice as likely to die from it.

Events such as this one aim to close those disparities through outreach, education, and the elimination of financial barriers. By providing a completely free screening, the program encourages men who might otherwise delay care to take a proactive step toward protecting their health. The ease of access—no appointments, no paperwork, no insurance required—reflects a new model of community-centered healthcare delivery that prioritizes prevention over reaction.

A Community United in Health

Throughout the day, volunteers and healthcare professionals from Mount Sinai’s Robert F. Smith Prostate Cancer Screening Unit will be on hand to guide participants through the quick process. Their mission is not only to provide testing but also to create a supportive environment where men can learn more about the disease, risk factors, and ongoing advances in treatment.

For many residents, this event represents more than a medical opportunity—it is a symbol of care within the community. The collaboration between Mount Sinai and Assembly Member Seawright brings a sense of civic engagement and compassion to public health, reminding attendees that awareness begins at the neighborhood level.

Public health advocates have long emphasized that early screening is key to reducing mortality rates from prostate cancer. With a test that takes just a few minutes, the potential to save lives is immense. For men aged forty and above, annual screenings can mean the difference between timely treatment and late diagnosis. This initiative ensures that cost or lack of insurance will never be the barrier that prevents someone from receiving essential care.

Continuing a Lifesaving Tradition

Assembly Member Seawright’s efforts align with a broader statewide movement to make preventive care a priority. By hosting mobile units and free testing events, she continues a pattern of hands-on service that empowers citizens to take control of their health. The presence of Mount Sinai’s trusted medical professionals reinforces the event’s credibility and ensures that participants receive both accurate results and follow-up guidance.

Men who attend the screening can expect professionalism, privacy, and encouragement. Beyond the test itself, many leave with valuable information about diet, exercise, and ongoing health monitoring. These moments of engagement—personal, brief, yet deeply impactful—reflect the essence of community healthcare in action.

As the mobile unit sets up once again on York Avenue, the invitation is clear: prevention is powerful, knowledge is vital, and everyone deserves access to care. For those walking by, the blue ribbon symbolizing prostate cancer awareness serves as a gentle reminder that early detection saves lives.

For more information about this event or other community initiatives, residents are encouraged to contact Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright’s office by calling 212-288-4607 or emailing SeawrightR@NYAssembly.gov.
