The Elysian magazine launch at the National Arts Club was a dazzling affair, a confluence of fashion, philanthropy, and New York City’s elite. Held on February 6, 2025, the event celebrated the magazine’s Spring Philanthropy and Fashion Issue, with a focus on animal welfare. Power PR by Norah Lawlor ensured the city’s top journalists were in attendance to capture the glamorous evening. The highlight of the event was the premiere of a documentary showcasing prominent American women and their beloved canine companions, a touching tribute to the bond between humans and animals. Among the attendees was Maribel Lieberman, whose remarkable journey from selling homemade candies in Honduras to establishing the renowned MarieBelle New York chocolate boutiques was a source of inspiration. Her story, a testament to entrepreneurial spirit and artistic passion, resonated deeply with the evening’s themes. A particularly heartwarming moment occurred when Jean Shafiroff, a celebrated philanthropist and “Queen of Charity,” appeared on screen with her dog, receiving a resounding ovation from the crowd.
The event drew a distinguished crowd of designers, artists, philanthropists, and industry leaders, all united by a shared commitment to using creativity for positive social change. Generous sponsors, including Root, drc Ventures, Blissfully Living, Bio Light, Bill & Coo, and Discover South Carolina, made the evening possible. Following the screening of the second installment of the “CatWalk FurBaby” documentary series, which highlights a fashion show benefiting animal charities, the magazine launch officially commenced. Elysian magazine, the brainchild of Karen Floyd, has quickly become a prominent voice in New York City, celebrated for its elegant design, insightful content, and celebration of remarkable women. More than just a publication, Elysian is a multimedia brand encompassing print, digital platforms, film, podcasts, social media, and even e-commerce.
The Spring issue’s cover featured the iconic Loretta Swit, whose multifaceted career extends far beyond her memorable portrayal of “Hot Lips” Houlihan on MASH*. From her early days on the Broadway stage to her television stardom, Swit’s journey embodies talent, dedication, and a deep connection with her audience. Her work in Cagney & Lacey showcased her dramatic range, and her passionate advocacy for animal rights further underscores her compassion and commitment. Swit’s story, a testament to perseverance and artistic excellence, perfectly aligned with the magazine’s focus on inspiring women.
Another luminary present was Dr. Christina Rahm, accompanied by her husband, Clayton Thomas. Dr. Rahm, a scientist, counselor, and philanthropist, is the Chief Science Officer at The ROOT Brands, a company dedicated to eliminating toxins and promoting holistic health. Her belief in addressing the root causes of health issues, as detailed in her book “Cure the Causes,” reflects her comprehensive approach to well-being. Through the Rahm Foundation, she supports various causes, including education, mental health, and environmental initiatives. Dr. Rahm’s personal journey, marked by overcoming Lyme disease and cancer, has further fueled her passion for helping others achieve optimal health and happiness. Her presence at the event underscored the importance of health and wellness in achieving a fulfilling life.
Also in attendance was Pamela Sue Evette, the Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina. A businesswoman and politician, Evette’s career reflects her dedication to public service and economic development. As the first lieutenant governor elected on the same ticket as the governor, she has played a key role in supporting the governor’s initiatives and promoting the state’s interests. Her focus on education, business, and natural resource protection demonstrates her commitment to the well-being of South Carolina’s citizens.
