Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: Georgina Bloomberg Shines at NYC Second Chance Rescue Gala Supporting Animal Rescue

Georgina Bloomberg — athlete, world-class equestrian, devoted animal advocate, mother of three — brought her trademark warmth to Pier 61 on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, for the NYC Second Chance Rescue Gala at The Lighthouse NYC, 61 Chelsea Piers. And the room noticed.

Graceful and genuinely hands-on, Bloomberg lent the sold-out evening both star power and substance. The cause — giving rescued dogs and cats a second chance — is one she carries personally, and her presence set the tone for a night built on compassion.

A packed house for the animals

The gala drew celebrated faces from entertainment and philanthropy, but the evening’s true stars had four legs. Adorable rescue dogs charmed the crowd, posing patiently amid the flashbulbs while dressed-up owners looked on. Maria and Kenneth Fishel were among the many guests smitten with the furry headliners.

The program honored Ralph Macchio, Rob Thomas and Marisol Thomas — founders of the Sidewalk Angels Foundation — and Dr. Tom Walker. Special guests included Elaine Hendrix, with Anthony Rodia hosting, a special performance by John Lloyd Young, and music from DJ Geo Roc. PR powerhouse Norah Lawlor drove the evening’s communications.

Why it matters

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, also in attendance, spoke to the deeper lesson behind the glamour. Raised around animals — his father H.H. Prince Waldemar always kept a dog, and his mother H.H. Dr. Princess Antonia, a rider and veterinarian who studied law to embed animal protection in European legislation — he put it plainly: animals cannot represent themselves, so it is our duty to protect them.

Every donation, large or small, goes directly to the rescue mission at nycsecondchancerescue.org. On this night, at 6 p.m. in cocktail attire on the Chelsea waterfront, New York’s animal lovers proved the point in person.
